On the morning of 1 November 1755, a large portion of Lisbon was destroyed in an earthquake followed by a tsunami and a fire that lasted for several days. Several contexts destroyed on that peculiar morning reveal what was the daily life in mid-18th- century households. Different sites in Lisbon reflect different social environments all of which were destroyed on that day, reveal what people were using on a daily basis.
