Sounds for Sustainability – Climate Folk – Dance of the Carbon Cycles
June 6 - June 7

Sounds for Sustainability – Climate Folk – Dance of the Carbon Cycles is an interdisciplinary gathering that explores the intersection of sound, sustainability, and climate resilience, bringing together researchers, artists, policymakers, and practitioners from various disciplines.
This initiative aims to deepen our understanding of how acoustic environments reflect and influence ecological and social transformations and how sonic elements—both natural and human-made—can be harnessed for a more sustainable future. Soundscapes are changing due to climate change, deforestation, urbanization, and species extinction. Simultaneously, musical traditions, storytelling, and sound-based rituals provide communities with resilience, identity, and a means of adaptation. By studying and engaging with sound in environmental and cultural contexts, we open new ways of thinking about sustainability, from biocultural conservation to participatory engagement and policymaking.
